Basil

Ccimum basilicum/Labiatae(Lamiaceae). Basil is an annual herb growing to approximately 8 to 24 inches tall the stems and leaves are particularly aromatic to encourage leave production to snip off lowering stands there are several varieties purple ruffles is exotically dark with With a clover-like aroma ‘genovese’ is compact and highly aromatic; minimum is very small and good for a little pot and ‘crispum’. It has curly leaves with vigorous growth. Sow seed in pot in moist , medium rich soil in full sun; in more northern climates, it does well on windowsill or in a greenhouse/ conservatory. Uses of plants fresh and dried leaves, essential oil.
